A Beautiful Baby Shower and the Scent of Wellbeing

Image
Hi Everyone, I hope you’re well and had a lovely weekend! Mine was super busy but really lovely too as I hosted my best friend Donna’s baby shower at her home in Yorkshire. It was such a beautiful day and we were incredibly lucky with the weather, we were able to spend a lot of the day outside which was perfect as the views from Donna’s house are stunning and the theme for the shower was vintage afternoon tea . It was gorgeous! As I said in my previous post id planned on making a couple of home made items for the shower and I was really thrilled with the results and my gorgeous friend Tessa Parr (who recently played Juliet in Romeo & Juliet with me) was also on hand to help! There’s so much stuff online these days to assist with achieving a really professional finish, for example I got these fabulous baby shower stickers online from Neviti Pattern Works . They were such a great find as they tied everything together. I placed them on favour bags and jam jars which I used ...

Boy’s Bathroom Before & After

Image
Update! Here’s what this bathroom looks like now (above!), after another bathroom refresh a few years later! :-) Below is the first refresh! Boy’s Bathroom Before & After So, last week I told you I was going to give my son’s bathroom a little facelift. And now we’re done! Just like on TV. Oh, wait. No, actually, that was LAST YEAR that I told you were were doing this quick bathroom makeover !! Holy cow, time flies when you are a busy family. A whole year! Anyhoo…let’s rewind the clock a little bit ALL THE WAY BACK TO FEBRUARY LAST YEAR and refresh our memories, shall we? When I say it was last year when we started this, don’t be fooled — it didn’t really take a year. We really only worked on it a handful of days. This was just a quick facelift , not rocket science. But we are just too busy to work on it five days in a row. And, it was mostly done awhile ago, I just was kind of lazy about taking pictures. This room I speak of was a fine enough bathroom to start with, better than ma...

Everything's Coming up Roses: How to Make DIY Rose Petal Bath Salts

Image
I hate having flowers go to waste, and after last month’s workshop, I had some extra flowers laying around. So, being that one of the things I’m working on in 2017 is self-care (how is that ALWAYS the first thing to fly out the window when things get busy?!), I removed the petals from the stems, dried them out, and turned them into a spa-inspired DIY. Now, I’m borderline obsessed with drying out flowers for pretty much everything. That’s a story for another time though, let’s get to the good stuff. Want to make some DIY rose petal bath salts ? Here’s what you need to make your own… Materials 1 cups of epsom salt 1 tablespoons of baking soda 1.5 cups of himalayan sea salt (or regular coarse sea salt if you don’t like pink) rose essential oils glass jars mixing bowl (or even a pitcher, like I used) spoon or whisk blender or food processor Instructions 1. Start by drying out 1-2 cups of organic rose petals (you want organic roses if possible, since they’ll eventually be in your bathtu...
