A Beautiful Baby Shower and the Scent of Wellbeing

Hi Everyone,

I hope you’re well and had a lovely weekend! Mine was super busy but really lovely too as I hosted my best friend Donna’s baby shower at her home in Yorkshire. It was such a beautiful day and we were incredibly lucky with the weather, we were able to spend a lot of the day outside which was perfect as the views from Donna’s house are stunning and the theme for the shower was vintage afternoon tea. It was gorgeous!

As I said in my previous post id planned on making a couple of home made items for the shower and I was really thrilled with the results and my gorgeous friend Tessa Parr (who recently played Juliet in Romeo & Juliet with me) was also on hand to help!

There’s so much stuff online these days to assist with achieving a really professional finish, for example I got these fabulous baby shower stickers online from Neviti Pattern Works.

They were such a great find as they tied everything together. I placed them on favour bags and jam jars which I used as vases to add to the vintage feel and then hand tied ribbon with lemon hearts around them to finish them off.

As Easter was the week before I decided to continue the egg theme and use some of the decorations I had left over from the previous week. I used these fabulous polystyrene speckled eggs in the vases, which i filled with water and then placed short stemmed white and yellow roses in for a fun but elegant twist. I also used shredded green tissue resembling grass in the favour bags and finished them with miniature champagne glasses filled with bubbles as a nod to Donna’s love of summertime prosecco on the green. As we are in the full throws of spring I decided on a colour scheme of yellows/pinks and duck egg for a soft but fresh look and used paper pom poms to add pops of colour throughout the space. I also used the pom poms to create a baby shower cloud with hand made rain drops as a back drop for the gift table. It’s actually a really simple thing to do but creates lots of impact. I used 5/6 pom poms to create the main cloud and then cut rain drop shapes out of silver card to create the shower.

The table was then filled with beautiful gifts and a personalised message from The Bump which I got from the Purple Scrunch store at Amazon.

Donna’s mum and sisters were in charge of the catering and provided the most gorgeous afternoon tea filled with homemade cakes, scones and finger sandwiches alongside these wonderful cake pops which added a fabulous touch of colour to the table.

It was such a fun day and most importantly Donna had a really great time which is exactly what I’d hoped for!

This week I also took the Neom scent discovery test. I really love Neom products as their emphasis on creating scents that aid your well being is perfect for a busy lifestyle. I often use their products when I’m travelling as a) I’m generally travelling for work which can be hectic and b) i can sometimes get quite homesick and so having comforting or uplifting scents that you can spray when you’re on the go can be both reassuring and energising.

The scent discovery test aims to identify you’re underlying wellbeing need, whether that be de stress, energy, happiness or sleep. The kit includes 4 vials of different oils that you inhale, leaving a few seconds between each, whichever you are most drawn to should reveal your underlying need. Once you have identified your need you can then go online and find a range of products specifically designed to help. Mine happened to be sleep which was really interesting as id not had the best sleep last week and was feeling quite tired. This week I will definitely be using the Scent to Sleep bath and shower drops to make sure I get a few more restful nights.

Well I’ll say goodbye for now as I’ve got a busy few days ahead as I’m attending The Young Scot Awards in Glasgow which I’m really excited about. I hope you all have a fabulous week and speak very soon.

Love Natalie XX
