Shower Details in the Master Bathroom, HometoCottage
I’m an affiliate marketer with links to an online retailer on my website. When people click on those links and buy something from the retailer I sometimes earn a commission from the retailer.
This is the last chapter in the master bathroom tour from “Our House”. Previously I told you how we ‘stole’ space from the existing walk-in closet to create room for my husband’s vanity and our walk-in shower.
Approximately where the corner of the wall is on the right is where previously that wall went across the whole bathroom and there was a 24” wide doorway into the walk-in closet beyond. But we took down that wall, and used that walk-in closet space to install a 2nd vanity and a large walk-in shower.
This rack from Restoration Hardware works wonderfully for holding fresh rolled up towels, and has hooks for drying towels and robes.
Then opposite the towel rack is the 2nd vanity:
This cabinetry has the same detail as the 1st vanity, only it’s 12” narrower, at 48” instead of 60”. Because it’s smaller I did the light fixture over the mirror in a 2 light fixture instead of the 3 lights like the larger vanity has.
My husband has had these antique and vintage shaving items for years.
The tile on the shower walls and the floor, are glazed porcelain tiles. I had considered natural stone, but the price and maintenance were both too much. Porcelain is a great choice however, it’s very durable much harder than ceramic, virtually no maintenance is needed, it’s more cost effective than real stone and the finishes now are so believable, it’s difficult to tell it from real stone.
When I saw this glass border tile, I fell in love with it. Even though it was expensive, I only used it as a single border in the shower, so I didn’t need to order all that much, therefore I could justify the cost per piece.
In the shower we had the tile guy install 3 cubbies for soaps and shampoos.
After waiting 15 years, we are so happy with this space. It was totally ok to wait for it because of the needs at the time, but so great to have it done now. Every time I walk in our bathroom, I can’t believe it’s ours!
If you have any questions about the details on the master bathroom, please feel free to ask. I’d be happy to tell you whatever I can.
