If you're tired of the mold that collects on the bottom of your bathtub shower curtain and the white mineral streaks that stain the rest of it, you'll probably find a sliding door a significant improvement. These doors, made of tempered glass, are easy to keep clean. All it takes is a pass with a squeegee after every shower. Installing one is no problem -- you can do it on your own with a few carpentry tools. You need to be aware, however, that the tempered glass is sensitive to impacts and can shatter unexpectedly. Vienna hotel room with open bathroom (no shower curtain) - Austria Forum

1. Re: Vienna hotel room with open bathroom (no shower curtain) I always go for a hotel with a shower because I don't like lying in a tub (like a pig in a wallow!) but I haven't encountered any Viennese hotels that offer showers with a shower curtain. Most of the mid-range hotels I've stayed in seem to have shower cubicles with sliding or folding glass or plastic doors. Some are more roomy than others! If you have a shower over a bath, you often have this glass panel thingy which folds back if you want to use the tub, but which can be opened out to form a wall when using the shower. I have no idea of the technical term for these panel thingies, but I think if you got a room with a shower over a bathtub, you would be likely to get something like this. I've encountered this sort of bathroom in Hotel Alma (www.hotelalma.com) and Hotel Pertschy (www.pertschy.com). Alma has very swishy modern bathrooms . Some rooms have the tub with shower over and the glass panel, and ot...

Traditional shoji screens consist of panels of rice paper framed in a wooden grid. Available in different sizes, they can be used as sliding panels , window treatments or standalone folding screens . Like many Japanese design elements , shoji screens boast a simple geometric design and neutral, natural tones for a calming, peaceful presence. These qualities make them ideal for creating a relaxing bathroom environment . Shoji Shower and Bath The neutral tones of a shoji screen make it a good design choice for a shower or bath area, and the translucent quality of the panel maintains privacy but lets light in.
