Bathroom floor plans for Kate's master bathroom remodel

Image
Posted by: Kate • June 26, 2012 I have given you a whole list of reasons why I am going to do a gut remodel of my retro master bathroom , but the main reason doesn ’t have to to with the condition of the tile, the color scheme or the lack of towel bars — I’m gutting my master bathroom to the studs and starting over, because the layout is just not working for how we live. When we first bought our retro ranch house about two years ago, I knew the bathroom was going to need some help. I’ ve spent hours thinking , measuring and imagining how I could fix the floor plan to be more user friendly, and by golly, I think I have a plan… To understand the improvements I’d like to make to the layout of my master bathroom , first we have to take a look at the current layout of the room: master bathroom floorplan" src="https://retrorenovation.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/CURRENT-BATH2.jpg" alt="Kate's current master bathroom floorplan" width="500" height...

Master Bathroom Refresh

This post is sponsored by BEHR® and POPSUGAR. Back when we bought this house in 2009 I was an overzealous, 24-year-old, first- time home buyer (stop doing the math and trying to calculate my age– I’m 32). And I knew I wanted a blue master bathroom with crisp, white towels in a basket, but back then I didn’t know much about paint colors– see the first color I painted our kitchen. While the blue wasn’t awful, it really screamed ‘BLUE’, especially on sunny days. Over time, I started to get annoyed by how blue it was. So a few weeks ago I decided it was time to change the color. Mostly because I was tired of the BLUE and partially because it had been almost 9 years since I painted our bathroom, so it was time. When looking at colors, I wanted to stay with blue because I thought it worked best with our (not-by-choice) almond- colored bath fixtures . But I wanted more of a blue-gray. Putting the colors side by side shows how blue the old color was, and how the new color, BEHR Oceanic Clima...

15 Stunning Modern Bathroom Designs

Bathroom is a part of the house intended for private sanitation. It is also a place where we can loosen up our tired mind and body to isolate us away from stress. Immersing in a half-filled bathtub has been a custom for a few to relax after a long tiring day . People feel refreshed after taking a nice shower and feel comfortable after attending to their hygiene. Basically, there are plenty of things a bathroom can offer that its definition does not only limit to as for personal cleanliness or a word used to euphemize as a room containing a toilet, but a room vital for people to meet relaxation at its best. So you might want to consider adding up an extra effort to beautify your bathroom to maximize comfort, space and aesthetics. There are many style options to choose when setting up a design for your bathroom. You can pattern your design based on your personality or go with something that deviate the kind of plan you have in mind yet make it still visually attractive. But if you have...

Remodel | Master Bedroom + Bathroom

Image
After Before The Original Floorplan Last June, Jeremy and I started the process of remodeling the second floor of our home. There were lots of things that bothered me about the original layout, and you can probably discern a lot of them from the “before” pictures, more of which you can see in West Elm’s post here. Originally, the second floor had a master bedroom , tiny master bathroom , and a weird tiny bedroom that could only fit a twin size bed and had a weird area where the eaves of the roof slanted down to the ground making it almost impossible to keep anything there. The master bathroom consisted of a small crappy plastic tube -shaped shower, a vanity, and the toilet. The shower was the bane of my existence, because the way it was built and assembled left all these little gaps in the plastic pieces  in it that were impossible to get to with cleaning brush, so mold would just grow between the cracks, and the rubber lining along the shower door where the plastic sheets touched k...
